1. Portrait Mode (9:16)
Best for: Daily updates, “Girlfriend Experience” (GFE) content, and mobile scrolling.
• Pros:
• Immersion: It fills the entire phone screen, making the viewer feel like they are on a FaceTime call with you.
• Social Media Ready: You can easily repurpose snippets for TikTok, Reels, or X (Twitter) without awkward cropping.
• Ease of Use: Most creators find it easier to film themselves one-handed or with a simple tripod.
• Cons:
• Limited Scope: It’s hard to show your full environment or “action” if you are moving around a lot.
• Perceived Value: Portrait video is often seen as “casual.” It’s harder to charge premium PPV (Pay-Per-View) prices for vertical phone clips compared to high-end productions.
2. Landscape Mode (16:9)
Best for: High-production “feature” videos, professional shoots, and “Desktop” users.
• Pros:
• Premium Feel: It mimics the look of professional movies. This “Cinematic” look justifies higher price points for locked content.
• Better Context: You can capture your entire room or more of your body, which is essential for certain types of performances.
• Multi-Device Friendly: Looks much better on laptops, tablets, and smart TVs.
• Cons:
• The “Black Bar” Issue: On mobile (where 80%+ of fans are), landscape videos leave massive black bars at the top and bottom, making the actual content look small.
• High Effort: Usually requires a tripod and better lighting to make the wide frame look good.
The “Hybrid” Strategy
If you want to maximize your revenue, don’t pick just one. Use this framework:
• The Feed (Portrait): Use vertical video for your daily wall posts to keep fans engaged while they browse on their phones.
• The Vault (Landscape): If you are filming a “main event” video (10+ minutes), film it in landscape. When you send it as a PPV message, include a Portrait-mode teaser to get them to click “buy.”
Quick Tip:
If you’re filming in 4K, you can sometimes film in Landscape and then crop the center into a Portrait version for social media, giving you two pieces of content for the price of one.
